Specialty: Jewlery
Bio:
I am a metal smith working in the medium of jewelry and wearable sculpture. My designs are a composition of abstract shapes, color, positive and negative space, gestural lines, texture and movement. I fabricate jewelry from sterling, titanium, 14 K gold, copper, bronze, semi-precious stones and found objects. Techniques that I use include hot and cold connections, forging, piercing, lamination of metal layers, metal carving and fabrication of custom hinges, bezels and clasps.
As I work on the construction of a piece, that piece becomes a reservoir of memories from my youth. I often share those memories with my viewers, passing on my oral history. This allows a dialogue to unfold between us about similar life situations. I have been working in this manner for over 40 years and I am a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths.
